Bridging College with Community Grants

This initiative was developed to fund collaborative projects with the Michiana Community. Co-sponsored through Saint Mary’s Office for Civic and Social Engagement and the CWIL Community Connections program, this initiative links Saint Mary’s College with the Michiana community in a way that demonstrates mutual benefits and collaboration.

Essential Elements of the Grant

  • Be a collaborative program including all three partners in development and implementation:
    1. a faculty and/or staff member
    2. a student
    3. a community member and/or organization
  • Meet criteria for CWIL funding with a particular emphasis on the intercultural element
  • Clearly defined benefits, goals, and description of assigned roles and tasks
  • Achievable goals within one academic year
  • A budget that includes costs to the organization
  • Documentation of the project
  • Students should be involved in planning and implementation
