Catalyst Weekend "Quest for Understanding"
October 14-16

Join a group of inspiring students, faculty, and community members for a weekend of stimulating conversations, leadership development, and intercultural explorations.

  • A transformative intercultural weekend experience
  • Interact with community people, Saint Mary's faculty, and students
  • Travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit:
    • National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
    • Homes of: Harriet Beecher Stowe, who started a national debate
    • John Rankin, a Quaker who was an abolitionist
    • John Parker, an African-American who fought oppression
  • Integrate the experience with group interactions & discussion

Catalyst Retreat "Women Fighting for Change"
October 14-19

This experience gives you the opportunity to particpate in the Catalyst Weekend as well as a more inclusive retreat.

  • A transformative intercultural experience
  • Learn how local historical leaders found creative ways to promote justice
  • Interact with community women, Saint Mary's faculty, and students
  • Travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit:
    • National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
    • Homes of: Harriet Beecher Stowe, who started a national debate
    • John Rankin, a Quaker who was an abolitionist
    • John Parker, an African-American who fought oppression
  • Tour historic local neighborhoods that were the scene of social change
  • Integrate the experience with group activities and discussions
  • Formulate an action plan for women to become a catalyst for social change
