Quality research on international programs is crucial to understanding their impact on student learning and informing their design. Given this, we at Saint Mary's College are committed to both conducting our own comprehensive outcomes assessment, and helping to discern best practices by sharing our design, methods, and results, and facilitating this conversation in the broader field. To this end, there are links below to materials from three presentations in a panel we organized at the 2005 NAFSA Conference, which include our own research timeline, instrument, and a bibliography of useful resources. There are also materials from Connecticut College and Brigham Young University. An update on the study of assessment and overview of the 2006 NAFSA conference will be forthcoming. Dr. Elaine Meyer-Lee also is on the Forum on Education Abroad committee on outcomes assessment, and will be contributing a chapter to the Guidebook they are writing.
