
Saint Mary’s College, in collaboration with Creighton University and the Soong Ching Ling Foundation,offers a three week study abroadprogram during the summer. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the 5000-year history of this fascinating countrywhile earning 3 hours of credit. Some Saint Mary's students will be chosen to take part in this program with students from Creighton University, which will be led by two or three faculty members. Because this travel opportunity is supported by the China Soong Ching-Ling Foundation, it is a rare opportunity!

Datong: Yungang Buddhist caves, Hanging Temple, service project
Wutai Mountian: Buddhist temples and Nuns Academy

Nanjing: University exchange activities, high school visit, Sun Yat-Sen Maoselum, Nanjing Massacre Museum, Confucius Temple
Shanghai: Modern China, Architecture, shopping, art museum, Cheng Huang Temple, Shanghai Bund, TV Tower

All students are housed in the local hotels in different provinces in China.
Basic costs are kept to a minimum. The program fee is $3950, and covers tuition, hotels, meals, transportation within China, museum and historical site entry fees, and airfare to and from China. There is a $35 application fee and $140 visa fee. Participants from Saint Mary’s College are eligible for CWIL student travel grants through the Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership.
The China Summer Program is open to students of all majors. Non-SMC students can also apply. This is an English program and there is no Chinese language or GPA requirement. One faculty recommendation is required.
