Peer Mentor

Welcome to the Peer Mentor Program

Each year, new international students have the option of being a part of the peer mentor program. The peer mentor program matches new international students, or mentees, with current Saint Mary’s students. A peer mentor is typically an international student or an American student who has studied abroad.

Some responsibilities of a peer mentor include helping their mentee get acquainted with Saint Mary's College community and supporting the mentee as she transitions from her home culture to the American culture. The mentor and the mentee stay in touch throughout the whole year, through various gatherings arranged by International Student Services or informal interactions, so that the new student can contact her mentor anytime to receive useful advice on academic, spiritual, or social life. This program allows many international students to adjust to a new culture and a new environment easier and faster.

For more information, about becoming a mentor or how you can become a mentee, please contact Jill Long at jlong2 [at] saintmarys [dot] edu127 Spes Unica Hall, (574) 284-4212.
