Saint Mary's College is proud to announce three students who have won the Gilman International Scholarship. Maeva Alexander and Meaghan Daly were the first Saint Mary's recipients of the Gilman Scholarship. Maeva studied abroad in South Africa and Meaghan studied abroad in Ireland. Abida Coric is the Spring 2012 Gilman Scholarship recipient. Abida will pilot the new Morocco study abroad program in Spring 2012.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the U.S. Department of State fosters mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of countries throughout the world. Over 2,300 scholarships will be awarded during the academic year 2010-11.
The Scholarship offers up to $5000 for undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. The Scholarship recipients are eligible to receive an additional $3,000 Critical Need Language Supplementfor a total possible award of up to $8,000.
