During the 2011-2012 academic year the Center for Women's Intercultural Leadership welcomes the following Fellow.

 

Luis Loya, Modern Languages

Luis Loya holds a Ph.D., in Hispanic Literature and Linguistics from University of Massachusetts-Amherst, a M.A. in Hispanic Studies from WMU and a double BA in Hispanic and Francophone Studies from FSU. Luis’s research is multidisciplinary; it includes cultural studies, sociolinguistics, gender studies, and literature to study the evolving identity of Latino/as in the US. His current research is a socio-cultural analysis of Piolín por la Mañana, a Spanish-language radio program in the US. Luis examines how Hispanic immigrants manipulate language to create humor and form communities. He has worked with elementary school, high school and college students.
